thinkBuilding a business is a fantastic and challenging experience.  You can wake up exhilarated to begin your day and go to bed feeling overwhelmed and frustrated.  The key to success is to maintain a positive, yes you can do it, mindset.

Easier said than done, right?  Here are 5 keys to help you create and sustain a positive mindset so you attain the success you desire.

1. Surround yourself with successful and positive people. The influence people have over our own personal energy is amazing.  Moods and attitudes are so easily spread – think about how much of a difference a simple smile from a stranger can make for your day and then magnify it 1000 times to demonstrate the power of positive and successful friends, family and associates.  When you have people around you who inspire you, believe in you and want you to succeed, there’s no room for doubts and even when they creep up, they’re quickly swept away.

2. Create a mantra or an affirmation. Repeating positive affirmations has been shown to get people through tough times and to actually help them truly believe what they’re saying.

For example, “I am building a powerful and profitable business.”  Many of the most esteemed business professionals have used the same affirmation strategy to attain their success.  To find the right affirmations for you, consider writing a quick list of your doubts, insecurities and complaints.  These can then be quickly turned into affirmations.

For example, if you write that you’re always feeling disorganized then your affirmation would be, “I am organized and in control.”  Repeat your affirmations several times a day and feel the power of positive thinking.

3. Capture negative thoughts. We all have negative thoughts from time to time, however, negative thoughts and emotions can derail us and prevent us from achieving all we desire.  Of course catching those negative thoughts takes practice and persistence.  When you find yourself thinking negative thoughts or having negative emotions, find a trigger to turn them around.  The affirmations mentioned above are a great way to turn the negative into the positive.  You can also find quick pick me ups like a favorite song, a walk outside in the fresh air, or some exercise to help improve your mood.

4. Set goals/intentions and then be willing to let it go. The law of attraction says that we attract what we focus on the most.  However, desperation, needing your business to be a success, sends mixed messages and a lot of negativity into the universe.  Set your goals and intentions and then let them go.  A certain amount of faith in yourself and in the power of attraction is necessary.  Give it a try.

5. Be grateful. Gratitude is perhaps the single most powerful and positive tool for success.  When you’re grateful for all of the wonderful things and people in your life the challenges you face seem significantly less important and are more easily dealt with.

Consider keeping a gratitude journal and make a practice of entering into it daily.  That way, when you’re facing challenges a quick peek at all the amazing things in your life will make you feel as if you can tackle anything.   Additionally, an attitude of gratitude helps you maintain a positive perspective and to face challenges as opportunities rather than obstacles.

Success is within your reach and with the right attitude you can accomplish anything you set your sights on.  Embrace these five powerful mind success strategies and you’ll build a better business and live a happier, more satisfying life.

Time Management

There are so many posts that I would like to share with you, and in saying that there is so much I want to do in regards to traffic generation for my other sites & developing my online income, not to mention spending time on my ‘real job’ and with my family.

You see many of us face the same issue from day to day. We often hear people saying that ‘I just don’t have enough time’, or “Life just got in the way”.

So we must stop and think of Time management more than just a skill, we must take a step back and look at time management from the bigger picture of ‘Life Management’.

After all what is our time, but our life!

You see if you are  like me, many of you will have the greatest intentions. We sit down behind our computer, looking to add some content to our blog, or perhaps, compose a new follow up email for our opt-in list, or perhaps compose a new article to publish on a few article sites….

But then we sit down & click the Send/Receive Button on our email and then stuff just starts to get in the way…..

I for one am guilty of this. So easily the distractions of other things get in the way, and without a plan, they will continue to stop us doing the things that we originally set out to accomplish.

This is where we need to sit down and start planning our day.

This is usually best done the night before.

  1. Sit down and write down at least the top six things you plan to accomplish the following day.
  2. Prioritize these tasks from 1 – 6
  3. The following day, start with task 1 & continue with this until it is either finished, or until you get to a point with the task, that you can no longer move forward due to the requirement of addition resource or perhaps you need more information.
  4. When you have completed task 1, move on to Task 2 and complete in the same manner as described above.
  5. Move on down through the list, until you run out of time.
  6. Anything that is left over at the end of the day from your first list, move to the top of the following days list, and start again.

An alternative to this method is to plan your day, hour by hour, or even in 15 minute blocks.

Still plan your day the night before, but plan your day in increments.

For example:

8:00 – 8:15 –  read & follow-up your email.

8:15 – 8:45 – Reply to Blog Comments

8:45 – 10:00 – Add new Blog Content

10:00 – 12:00 – Write article for article directories.


I understand that most of us have real jobs, and we cannot plan our days as described above, but we can work the plan and come up with our own schedule.

*** However, keep in mind,  when scheduling your time, be sure to schedule personal time for exercise, family & “me” time. ***

Also, when you are planing & scheduling your time, remember to be flexible.

Sometimes life does get in the way… You or a loved one may get sick, or some other unexpected situation may occur.

But is saying this, we can also come up with so many excuses as to why we are unable to complete our task list.

Only you can determine what is & isn’t important!

Keeping with this, I am sure many of you have heard before, start analysing your time. Keep a daily journal with you, and keep notes on exactly how you use your time. (Especially the time you spend on the Internet)

You may be surpised to see that even though you may have been busy all day, you were not particularly productive…….

And that is the crux of the matter. Many of us do not want to be held accountable for all of the time that we waste each day. And I, as much as anyone else, need to start being held accountable. Because if you do not hold yourself accountable, who else will????
