Internet Marketing! A Realistic View.

August 19th, 2009

2009-08-19_1717Internet Marketing is an interesting concept that so many of us struggle with.

For every successfull Internet Marketer on the Web, there are hundreds of other wanna-be’s who struggle to make any sales what so ever.

So many of us are trying to figure out what we are doing wrong. We go from program to program, buying the next lot of promises from the “Marketing Guru’s”, only to find our hard drives getting full of stuff that once again, didn’t give us our break.

So what is it that seperates the men from the boy’s (so to speak)? I would hazard to say it is their staying power. As I mentioned, many times we try a new program for a few weeks, and then after little of no success we are out looking for something else.

I would venture to say, that if we were to commit ourselves to focus on one program for a minimum of six months, we might just start to see the results we are so desperate to acheive.

I am writtinf this Blog, not onky for there marketers out there that are struggling to succeed, but also for myself. I need to take my own advice & become laser focused on the task at hand.

I have spent literally thousands of pounds (dollars) on Internet marketing programs and courses, many of which I have never even looked at. Each time hoping that this will be the key to my success. But alas, each time I get disappointed once again and find that my marketing attempts slip further from my grasp.

In some ways I think that maybe I need a mentor who will guide me along and keep me accountable. I think if I had someone to help me I would be able to focus. But again, Montors cost money, and that is something I do not have at the moment.

I think in some ways I am using that as an excuse. I read somewhere once that we are our own greatest critic, and we must become accountable to ourselves.

The best way I have found to be accountable to myself is to keep a journal. In my Journal, I write down my goals and my dreams, and a to to list of what I plan to acomplish each day. A schedule you could say.

This way I can monitor exactly where I am at and move forward to my marketing goals.

So in a nutshell, I see one of the main ingredients to successful Internet Marketing as being focused and commited to one project or program at a time for a period of at least six months.

So before you go out and spend another dollar on yet another product, go back and look at what you have on you hard drive and bookshelf and see if you can focus your energies and get that to working.

What A Lizard Taught Me About Internet Marketing

August 1st, 2009

LizardToday, while out on a walk, I paused for a few minutes to “converse” with a lizard. I noticed the tiny lizard (less than 6 inches long) sitting in a pile of branches on the side of the trail that I frequently walk. As I moved closer, the lizard looked up at me… as if to say “I see you but realize that you are no threat.” I said out loud, you’re a wise creature, and I suspect that God put you here to teach me a lesson. “Watch and learn” the lizard said. So, I sat down less than a foot from the lizard and he continued to teach me.

The lizard slowly inched forward, taking two steps at the most, towards some target that I didn’t notice. Periodically he’d glance over at me with one of his eyes to make sure I was still watching. After about 15 minutes of this, he lunged forward and grabbed a winged insect.  I’m not sure what it was though it looked akin to a grasshopper. The lizard slowly swallowed his lunch whole, then said to me, “Did you get it?” Shaking my head, I said “No.”

The lizard said, “Most of you internet marketers teach people to take massive action, and that that is  the secret to success. Not everyone can take massive action for various reasons, and so you need an answer for those people too.” As I reflected upon the lizard’s message, I understood. This tiny creature was incapable of soaring like an eagle, or even traveling many miles in a day.  I suspect that traveling even 1 mile would exhaust it.

The lizard taught me that, for some people, the key is NOT massive action, but consistently taking just 1 or 2 steps at a time – making sure that the steps are in the right direction. That lizard taught me that for many people, the key wasn’t making $1000 per day, but making just $100 per day. After all, that’s $3000 per month, and will get many people over the hump.

That lizard taught me that many people don’t even WANT to make $10,000 per month. They just want to help with the mortgage or car payment, and maybe save up for a college fund. The lizard sensed that I understood. At least I convinced myself that he did.  I thanked my worthy teach, got up and finished off my walk. As I arrived back at my home, I realized that now more than ever, it’s my job get people to read the ebook that I helped co-author along with 18 others. That ebook is titled “20 Ways To Make $100 Per Day Online” and teaches exactly that.

The ebook teaches what the authors of the various chapters are doing to make a comfortable living online, working no more than 1-2 hours per day. The ebook also has an affiliate program that pays 100% commission. You purchase the inexpensive ebook, then on the download page you are allowed to register for the affiliate program.  Then you help to tell others about this amazing ebook. You can even use this article.   When your customers buy this amazing ebook, the payment goes directly to your Paypal account, and they are redirected to a download page on our site where they download the pdf ebook.

Life teaches us many lessons – if we are paying attention, and ready to learn those lessons. Today, I was ready to learn from a lizard.  Are you ready to learn how to overcome this recession and get your internet business moving forward?

Traffic Generation with Alex Jeffreys

July 31st, 2009

Traffic GenerationI have just finished a coaching call with Alex Jeffreys, who some of you may know through www.marketingwithyou.com and also his Marketing With Alex coaching course.

Now as I have mentioned in an earlier Blog posts, I have been trying to be successful in Internet Marketing for a couple of years now, and in that time have made a couple of dollars, but nowhere near enough to do this fulltime.

In fact most of my websites, I was unable to even entice someone enough to subscribe to my newsletter. My two most successful sites have been Teach Children About Money (which I built from scratch) and Web 2.0 Traffic Stampede (which was a PLR product).

With both of the above sites, the majority of my traffic came from PPC methods, although Teach Children About Money, does generate a fair amount of organic traffic now days.

That aside, the call with Alex this morning was about generating traffic through Social Media methods. In a nutshell, the key is to attract traffic to your own blog by giving value to someone else’s. That is, post constructive comments on other people’s blogs, and hopefully people will find your comments valuable enough to come and visit your own site.

Now I have been working on this blog for about the last four weeks, and on average I have been getting 7 to 10 visitors per day, with a max of 22 hits.

This can be a little discouraging, when you hear that some of the other students are getting 100 + hits per day.

This morning, Alex gave us a challenge to see who, over the next two weeks, can generate the greatest increase in our traffic numbers.

So here is my plan:

  1. Update my blog regularly.
  2. Add value to the blogs of others.
  3. Generate traffic using Article Marketing (I use Article Marketing Automation for this)
  4. Create a video about my Internet Marketing experiences and post it on the video websites.
  5. Use Twitter to generate traffic.
  6. Study the Traffic Secrets 2.0 study guide (which I already have)
  7. Use the Traffic Generation Club for ideas
  8. Use www.pingomatic.com and www.pingoat.com to advertise my blog elsewhere
  9. Study the Alex’s videos on the subject.
  10. Use the traffic tactics as described in the Web 2.0 Traffic Stampede
  11. Add a video to my own blog

Now these are just a few ideas off the top of my head, but I will keep you posted on other methods I discover as I go along.

Now all of this is going to take a lot of time and effort, so I will probably not get much sleep over the coming weeks. But I am told it will be all worth it.

I look forward to sharing my progress with you over the next few weeks.

Please feel free to post a comment & let me know your favourite tip for traffic generation.

To Your Success,

Rob

6 Easy Ways To Blog Better…

July 28th, 2009

BTE2333Blogging can be an extremely interesting hobby to have. A blog, which has been defined as an online journal, is a place where someone can post exactly what’s on their mind. While some bloggers could care less if their posts are read, others actively try to gain more readers. Some advertisers are offering money for blogs that get high traffic amounts, so learning to blog better can be an important task. If you are interesting in learning more about better blogging, check out these six helpful tips.

Use a Casual Tone

The most interesting blogs are not written using formal grammar rules. Frankly, the formal tone can be a little boring and web surfers don’t want to read through a bunch of “hoity-toity” text. If you want your blog to be popular and a success overall, consider writing in a more casual tone. Think of the writing as being a conversation you are having with a friend. Write exactly the way you would talk, not the way you are supposed to talk. Using slang and other words that may not be considered “proper” is a great way for your blog to reach a wide variety of viewers. Using humor and other personality characteristics in your writing will make people want to keep coming back to read your newest entries.

Don’t Overdo It

Keeping your blog short will help you retain any interested viewers. People don’t want to spend massive amounts of time reading text on the web. If they wanted to read a novel, they would do just that. Try to stick to your point and keep it nice and short. A blog that is more than 500 or 700 words is just too much. If you need to carry on with the topic, consider creating another post that finishes your point. Although this is basically creating one long blog, the break in the text will be welcoming and readers will be less likely to get bored.

Never Advertise Improperly

Too often people use blogs as a space to advertise their services or their products. This can be a cheap way to get your work out there. It is noted however that blog readers can get annoyed quickly at advertisements on blogs. If you must advertise on your blog, consider doing so in a more subtle manner. Write a short post about your product and put a link to your website. Don’t take up your entire blog space with the advertisement. Although it may seem like a great idea, you will essentially be scaring people away from your blog altogether.

Check Your Spelling

Although the tone of your blog should be kept casual, you should still edit your work. There is a way to be casual, without being sloppy. You should always check your spelling before you submit your post. If your posts are sloppy and full of misspelled words, people will think that you are not educated and probably won’t take anything you say seriously. Some blogging software comes will a spell check features, while some doesn’t. If your blogging software does not come with any spell check feature, simply create your post in a word processing software and use the spell check there. Then cut and paste your edited work into the blogging software text area. This will allow you to post without spelling errors, which is highly recommended.

Be Versatile

If you want to reach the largest amount of people, you do not need to advertise endlessly. You simply must be versatile with your post topics. Those blogs that cover only one type of thing may be popular with one specific targeted group of people. That is fine, if it is what you want. If you want to reach everyone however, you need to post on everything. Consider posting on current affairs, music, books, and other hot issues. This will draw people in. When you post about popular things in the news, it will draw people to your site when they do a search on the web.

Post Often

People who become fans of your blog will likely be looking for a new post every few days. Some will only look once a week. If you want to keep your blog fresh and interesting, you should post often. Posting often is something that takes very little time, because your entries should stay short and sweet. It is a way however to keep things new and exciting for your biggest fans. They will be waiting for your new posts and will continue logging on as long as you provide them with new information.

How to Leverage the Power of Web 2.0 to Get Highly Targeted Traffic.

July 13th, 2009

Web 2.0 is the latest buzzword in Internet marketing. Not
surprising at all, considering what a goldmine it is in terms of
all the benefits an Internet marketer can draw from it.

Basically, web 2.0 is a platform that allows people to connect,
interact with the website and with each other and share information
online.

Therefore, web 2.0 encompasses all those online communities like
blogs and Social Networking websites like MySpace, Facebook, and
Twitter; Video sharing websites like YouTube;  Social book marking
sites like Del.icio.us, Digg, StumbleUpon etc. I am sure you get the general
idea.

Now the question is, how do you get Web 2.0 to give you a
steady rush of highly traffic? That is the focus of this article.

Every Internet marketer loves free-traffic. Now this has become a huge
possibility, thanks to web 2.0 sites where users have a high level
of interaction, passing around information to each other.

As a result of this, there are hundreds of niche topics and markets
people tend to be a part of. And it’s because of this that the web 2.0
social networking sites have become a goldmine for Internet
Marketers.

You have a huge market to which you can market your products and
services, and not spend a dime towards this effort. Your first task
is to find the most popular Web 2.0 community-based websites where
you are allowed to insert your URL. This will help people who want
to share your information, making your URL more visible as it gets
passed around and this, in turn, brings back highly traffic to your
website.

Check Out Web2.0 Traffic Stampede

You will be amazed at the number of marketers who are still not
using the power of the web 2.0 to get a lot more traffic than even
the search engines can turn up.

So create your free account right away with the following top
ranked sites, and start building your community, with links that
point to your main website.

YouTube
Squidoo
LinkedIn
Facebook
MySpace

There are several more, and I will talk about them in later posts.
Creating a profile on these sites is quite easy
and all you need to do is spend around fifteen to twenty minutes on
these sites every day.

Savvy marketers also increase their page rank with the search
engines by creating multiple user profiles for related topics. Once
this is done, they link these profiles to each other.

On most of these sites you will find a Forum or a discussion board
that allows its members to discuss any topic. These are highly
influential locations where members share stuff. Social networking
sites allow you to belong to different groups or networks within
the site.

Web 2.0 sites are great places to share viral videos, which are a
very effective marketing medium online. Millions of viewers see and
share videos that appeal to them, thus spreading the marketing
message and driving traffic to your website.

Social networking sites let you feature links to your website and
blog. For any Internet marketer, one-way links and traffic along
with high search engine page rankings are crucial to their success.
Web 2.0 helps achieve all these, free of cost.

To find out more ways to leverage web 2.0, stay with us for the
next part. Alternately, you can also go grab your copy of the Web
2.0 Stampede guide that shows you how you can keep highly traffic

Join me on a Journey

July 9th, 2009

Hi! My Name is Rob Willis and I would like to invite you to join me on a journey of success in Internet Marketing.

Everyday our email accounts are stuffed with the next “Make $67,241.41 in just 24 hours….”

I don’t know about you but I am just sick to death of all of these empty promises & systems.

Don’t get me wrong, there are some fantastic products available on the Internet, but the vast majority of them are more about making money for themselves, rather than helping you get ahead.

Most of the ebook sellers know full well, that you will buy there product, download it & then after reading one or two pages, you will simply forget about it. Heck I have many of these littering my computer as well.

As I stated at the start of this entry, I want to not only take you on a journey of success in Internet Marketing, I want to share it road with you. I would love to hear what is working for you, as well as hear about ways that you may be able help our other readers.

Any product recommendations I will make on this site will be products that I use and have helped me to grow as an Internet Marketer. I will also be creating some “How To” video’s and offering helpful advise to help you in your Journey.

I also want to help you with free tools that will help you in your marketing efforts, some you will probably have heard of, while others may be new to you. Again the Internet holds a wealth of information that can get very difficult to sift through, because there is also a lot of rubbish out there also.

You can look at me along this journey as a partner, travel companion, or even mentor.

A mentor you say??? But I am no more successful than you are….. However, I do have my own mentors that are teaching me now, as well as a wealth of experience on what not to do!!!

The site that attaches to this Blog, Internet Wealth Creators, is a work in progress at the moment, and to be honest will possibly not have much content for a short while. But in time I am hoping to develop this site into something that will contain a vast amount of information and tutorials to help us all in our journey.

You will see my main site, Internet Wealth Creators, at the moment there is a “Product Storefront”. Each of the links on this site will take you back to a Clickbank product that is associated with my affiliate code.

No I didn’t stay up all night creating each of these links, I simply downloaded a widget from CBEngine, inserted my code & uploaded it to my site. Great tool to have while setting a site up.

Enough of that for now. The intention of this post is simply to introduce myself and my intentions for this site.

So please join me, and feel free to participate as we move forward together on this exciting journey.

To Your Success,

Rob Willis
