Boost Your Profits With Forum Marketing

Forum marketing is a way of using forums to gain traffic to your website. Also when you use a forum to market your site, it will result in more sales of either your product or service. This however will depend on the type of website that you are trying to promote.

When you use forums to market your product, it should be done quietly without raising eyes. More and more forum owners in today’s internet world are keeping an eye out for spammers and if you are caught spamming you will be banned. You need to use just your signature line to promote your product and use the content to answer questions or offer ideas. If you follow this idea, you will have a less chance of your post being deleted or worse like getting banned from that particular forum.

You need to be aware though some forums will require that you make a certain amount of posts before you create a signature line. This will allow you the chance to build your reputation before you start to promote your product. If you are just beginning though you need to avoid these forums because you need to get your name out quickly. But be aware though even if you do have a forum that allows you to create a signature line right away you will still need to build up your reputation before pushing your product. If you carefully execute your forum marketing, it can be an effective marketing tool for you.

Forum marketing is effective because for one reason they usually contain a high volume of users that are interested in the same topic. If your site is related to the topic of the forum, it opens up the doors for you to a network of potential customers. Another reason why they are so effective is that you are able to get information on problems that the community might be having. When you have collected this information, you can use it to create new products to introduce to the forum community.

You need to execute your forum marketing campaign with extreme care. You should post at a minimum of 50 times before you even attempt to promote your product. This is even true if you belong to a forum that allows you to create a signature line with less than 50 posts. You need to establish your reputation as an expert on the subject first otherwise you will have a great chance of failing. Also, you need to make sure all of your posts are of the highest quality. Do not make your posts either too short or too long. Your aim in your posts should also be toward helping other fellow forum users with a certain problem or issue. You should begin your posts with just simple answers to people’s ideas or problems. After you feel comfortable, you can issue your own set of ideas and issues.

When you are creating your signature line it should be interesting and appeal to the reader instead of just being a sales pitch. Try and arouse the reader’s curiosity by stating that there is a secret that can only be revealed on your website. You can also offer a free-book that relates to your business if the visitor clicks on the link. These are great ways to get visitors to your site and when they do they will most likely sign up as a visitor as well.

You have the chance to have great website traffic when you advertise through forums if they are done correctly. It can add to more sales, newsletters, and sign ups among others which is something that you cannot get from any other site without spending a lot in advertising dollars.

Making Mistakes

As a new Internet Marketer, we quite often get caught up with the results rather than the causes. For example we can often focus more on making money rather than getting traffic to our sites.

The way I see it, is if you focus on getting traffic to your website, you will inevitably, start making sales.

Another mistake that is quite common is filling our Blogs, with so many advertisements and affiliate links rather than quality content. This is something the newbie marketer quite often gets caught up in, in a desperate attempt to make those first couple of dollars. I have also been guilty of this.

We have it all Backwards.

Our Blogs should be supplying quality content. We should be sharing our latest experiences in Internet Marketing. Share with others what is working for us, and what doesn’t work. By doing this we will slowly get a following of readers, and over a period of time, we will start making the occasional sale, as we recommend some of the products that we also use.

So the focus should be content, not constantly trying to sell something. This should be the same for our newsletters. We should treat our readers with respect, and work on building a relationship with them.

Personally, I don’t like to be sold to all the time. However, if I have grown to respect someone through their writings, I will be more inclined to listen to their recommendations of other products and services.

So what do we write about?

Simply write what is on your mind. Tell your readers what you are currently working on. Share with them your current marketing methods, for example: Article Marketing, Blog Commenting, Forum Commenting, Link Swapping, etc.

Occasionally share with your reader a little more about yourself and your family, or perhaps some of your goals and dreams. Let them know who you are when you are not sitting behind a computer.

Some of us have some technical skills, so share ideas on creating a better blog, or the latest trick you have learnt using Word, Powerpoint, or Komposer.

First things first.

The first step it to focus on your content. Start writing articles, and if you have trouble doing this, find some good quality PLR articles and rewrite these. (PLR Wholesaler is a good cheap place to start)

Next, setup your auto-responder and add a opt-in link on your blog or website.

Now it is time to focus on traffic. Use some of your articles and post them on some of the article directories, comment on other blogs, get involved in forums associated with your niche. A great place to start is simply type into Google, (your niche) + forums. For example ‘dog training forums’.

Also remember to ping your blog each time you make a new post using Ping-O-Matic or Pingoat.

So what am I working on?

I have a couple of websites that I am focused on generating traffic to at the moment. Time Management Mindset and Easy Product Creation System. I am mainly using Article Marketing for this, but also helping outhers out in the forums.

I am also doing some Video marketing training with The Video Boss.

In addition to all of this, I am also planning a couple of new products. So I have pretty well got my plate full.

Forums – Talk And Make Money

If you have a website about a topic you enjoy, you can make money from discussion forums. Talk, post links to your site, get traffic. Traffic means money, right? If not, try different affiliate programs or Google Adwords. The worst sites should get a couple cents per visitor. Now here’s how to talk and make money.

Search “forum” plus the topic of your site on Google or Alta Vista. For my first site, I searched “backpacking + forum” and in the pages of results I found several good forums. I also searched related topics like “hiking” too. You can also check, and other sites that have forums on many topics.

Registration is usually giving your email address and choosing a password. Some forums allow guests to post without registering. Once registered, browse the forum topics, and post a response to anything, just to “learn the ropes”.

Income From Discussion Forums

The point of posting in forums is to get readers to come to your web site. Sure it’s fun to give advice and discuss things of interest to you, but that’s secondary. With that in mind, do the following:

1. Always link to your site. If they don’t allow any links, find another forum.

2. Don’t “spam.” Sales pitches will be removed. Offer honest advice, or express an opinion, then sign off with your name and the link to your site.

3. Ask for help from others. This is an effective and acceptable way to “advertise.” Enter a topic like “Can I get some advice?” and post something like, “I just started a meditation site. If some of you would visit and tell me what you think, I’d really appreciate it.” Have a link to the site. People love to help, and to give opinions, and they’ll click on those ads while they’re at your site.

4. Look at total “views.” Many forums show the total times each “thread” has been viewed. When you see some with many more than others, get in on those, or start a new thread on the same topic. Go where the traffic is, and get some of it.

I didn’t like the idea of forums until I made a few posts, and saw my traffic and revenue climb for days afterwards. That convinced me. Just be polite, offer some value to others, and always have a link to your site. Many other secrets of using forums are covered in my newsletter, but this should be get you started.
